Results of the three Superpole sessions, as they happen.
Johnny Rea was the fastest rider in the final session of free practice ahead of this afternoon's Superpole. The Irishman was over a tenth quicker than Michel Fabrizio and Carlos Checa, with Shane Byrne another couple of tenths behind Checa. In the war for the championship, Ben Spies finished ahead of Noriyuki Haga, but only but just over a tenth of a second.
Eugene Laverty has taken pole for the World Supersport race at Portimao on Sunday. The Parkalgar Honda rider just inched ahead of Cal Crutchlow by less than a tenth of a second. Michele Pirro was 3rd fastest of the day, while Ten Kate Honda's Kenan Sofuoglu completes the front row.
Johnny Rea held on to provisional pole during the second session of qualifying for the World Superbike class at Portimao. Rea improved his time to finish ahead of Ducati's Michel Fabrizio and Aprilia's Max Biaggi, while Jakub Smrz completes the provisional front row. Noriyuki Haga took four tenths off his time from QP1 to leapfrog ahead of Ben Spies, who could not improve on the time he set yesterday.
Kenan Sofuoglu set the fastest time in second session of free practice for the World Supersport class, deposing Kawasaki's Joan Lascorz with a late run. Lascorz had previously done exactly the same to Cal Crutchlow, after the Yamaha rider had topped the timesheets for much of the session. Eugene Laverty finished behind Crutchlow once again, but as in previous sessions, the difference was minimal.
