Anyway, last night saw the bike run for the first time at a special classic speedway meeting here in Mildura. This meeting was put on for the Ulysses AGM which is currently being held here.
Peter Guest a local guy who has raced almost every form of racing over the years, including speedway was our rider and we managed to convince one of the workers from the family business to jump on beside him.
First heat was a disaster, after lining up at the gate, the bike stalled and wouldn't start again. We discovered later some idiot had forgot to turn the fuel on.
Second heat we at least got away and completed the 3 lap race, although the bike was not running too well. Third heat saw us finish third, getting pipped at the post for second. This was mainly due to 2 other bikes DNF'ing.
Last heat (shown in video) was ok but bike still not running too good. Possibly an electrical issue. The old man wants to replace the magneto with electronic ignition which he thinks will improve things a lot.
I took a bit of video and have posted here for a taster. Will add some more later as my brother was filming from the infield and should have much better shots.
