there's no confusion, no one has said Luthi was right to hit Marquez. However (right or wrong) different standards do appear to apply to the top class compared to the feeder classes - Simoncelli regularly punted competitors off the track in 250's without sanction but got a ride through at Le Mans last year for the Pedrosa clash. You should try and lose the chip regarding Stoner - he's not unfairly treated or persecuted.

I'm going with air-bag status lights.

"Marc Marquez and Thomas Luthi have both been issued a formal warning by Race Direction after the Moto2 race at Qatar. Marquez was warned over his pass on Luthi at the start of the last lap, while Luthi received the warning for the hard slap he gave on Marquez' throttle arm on the cooldown lap, when the Swiss rider went to remonstrate with the Spaniard over the pass."

Good decision imho. I hope they explained to both riders how their behavior is potentially dangerous. And hopefully they wont do something like that again. Neither do we want to see needless crashes, nor do we want to see race results messed up by decisions from race direction afterwards.

And I also hope they apply the same ruleset to everyone in the future. I'm still bitter about the penalty they gave Zarco last year. To me it seems somewhat biased, that Zarco was instantly penalized. Other riders like Rossi pulled off far more questionable moves without penalties being handed out. Imho race direction shouldn't be so shaky depending on who's involved (or who is on the receiving end).

I agree and we have to give new Race Director Mike Webb a chance and not put historical decisions made by others on him, as in the cases with Zarco etc.

Good point. I didn't know Webb was new in this position. Can't blame former decisions on him then. Hope he does a good job.

If this ends the cant and hypocrisy of claiming that physical contact between riders is inexcusably wrong in the case of one rider but understandable and different for another - my work here is done :D (rides off into sunset..)

3 WEEKS between the first and second MotoGP rounds!!!!! We are all going to go stir crazy again

I wonder why the long gap between rounds, it seems a bit silly seeing as the season has just started...?

I don't think there's been any hypocrisy - I can't see anywhere that anyone has said it was understandable for Luthi to hit Marquez. You still have work to do on your paranoia before riding off
