I assume that you are referring to the weather forecast in hell and unlikelihood that it will freeze over? ;)

2012 MotoGP Prediction Contest Round 4 - Le Mans

Postby tom on Sun May 20, 2012 7:18 am

I'm not fussed other way. I didn't see all the other 100 point bets when I made my 90 point one and probably wouldn't have made it if I did. But it is just a bit of fun so if its a lot of work for you rats then cancel the round, otherwise let it stand :)

Hi Rats, sorry, only just seen your reply. I have an iPhone and an iPad and the problem is navigating to the place your bets page. Because of the way the menu on your site is structured I find that I tap on the 'MotoGP Prediction Contest' box on the left on the main page and then when the sub menu pops up I can tap on the next drop down but then it takes me to the Introduction page. The sub menu doesn't stay on the screen long enough for me to get to the placing bets page. Ive managed it once but i had to tap very quickly!I think it's an inherent problem with the way the iPhone / iPad selects things on pages without allowing you to open up sub menus for viewing.

Maybe you could just add a link directly to the 'place your bets' page from the front page of Mototheory?

Cheers,
Matt

I say it's up to Rats - I made my bets late Thursday but never got to post them here on Friday. I only remember 2 of the 4 I placed points on.

Carty I have the same problem. But if you hit the back button on the browser it goes back and leaves the sub menu open. Basically click on the menu it pops the sub menu open briefly then moves on to the next screen before you can click where you want but then you click the back button, the browser goes back but leaves the sub menu open. You click on the sub menu you want and it opens the subsub menu (again briefly) before loading the next page. You just click the back button again and it will go back and show the subsub menu open you can make your selection again etc... Sounds more complicated than it is. Basically just hit the back button on the browser every time it forwards on prematurely.

Okay, here's where we are: I cannot get the application to connect to the database. I have no idea why this is happening or why it just suddenly started and it is really pissing me off (partly because I would have made a lot of points this round).

So, I am not sure I can even make this round happen. Right now, drastic measures are in order. I'm just trying to figure out what those are.

I still think we are in no need to rush mode. I assume you plan on getting it running for the next round so in order to do that you will need to nut out the current round. Lets just get the next round started and play it the old way until then..

Firewall issues? Can you connect from a console on the server? Have you tried switching it off and then switching it on again? :D

I literally was just replacing the router in my house and having trouble connecting. The guy who lives upstairs just asked me the same thing (quoting the IT Crowd).

I'll take a look but the DB and website and application are all on the same server so I'm not sure there is anything between them.

I was hoping it was going to count, as I think I got them all correct for once.

Ditto - looking forward to continuing the play. Even if we miss LeMans and Catalunya, could we expect to be full throttle for Silverstone?

This is for David, Rusty or Rats. Or anybody that can answer.

Is Rats OK? His absence is unusual enough to have me concerned.

Rats' profile shows he was last on Monday morning. Maybe the new job is keeping his busy.

Apologies, guys. Personal stuff has really taken my focus lately. I haven;t even had time to track down the issue with the site, let alone sort out what to do with the data.

I'm hoping that I can get things sorted out for Silverstone.

Gustav is shitting bricks right now cause I'm on his tail and ready to strike......the longer the delay the more likely it is that he will make an error and I will have the opportunity to pounce..... 8-)
