I think he's in the same league as Cadalora, and a bunch of others that have come from 250's etc with talent.

I don't think he will achieve as much as Pedrosa.

This translation is iffy, but the claim is that the racing team wont be affected.

That it can cause problems for the team in MotoGP racing with Hector Barbera was denied by Carlo Pernat.”The race team is a company that is self-managed, thanks to its sponsors - said the Genoa manager - and there will be no impact on the team.”

I guess he has a replacement sponsor lined up already????

No doubt......

Maybe Stoner has a point.

DORNA and Ezpaleta make stupid rules, then back-flip when it suits them. Read the interview with Ezpaleta where he "had discussions" with all teams and parties. After listening to them, and how they didn't think the rookie rule was good for any of them, he "decided" to annul it.

..........maybe if he'd asked them, or more importantly listened to the them ( the teams), before he decided to implement it, he wouldn't look quite as silly as he does now.

"990...no, wait a minute.......800's.........hang on a sec,....1000's..........just a minute.....CRT's..........minimum weight is.....no....add 4kg to that........rookie rule will help everybod......oh.......what's that ?.......oh, ok.....rookie rule gone...."

Idiots.

I used to think the FIM was bad...........

I'm not too sure Ben has that much too complain about really. His first season was 2010 and Lorenzo and Rossi were already signed for the factory Yamaha team, so it was probably going to be Tech3 for him even without the rule. Simoncelli, Barbera, Bradl and Aoyama all went to satellite teams, so it's not like it only applied to him either. I doubt the rule would have been dropped if there were still satellite bikes on the grid instead of CRT.

Oh !.... I didn't interperate it as him having sour grapes. More that if you're Spanish, with money and backing, then things can happen for you.

I thought that there was never going to be two Spanish riders in the Repsol camp ?

yeah, I thought it was a funny joke too...........as if there wouldn't !!

I won't disagree one bit that Dorna and the MSMA have changed the rules too much, although I'm not going to complain as much about some of the more recent attempts to control costs and keep teams in the series so the grid sizes don't get embarrassingly small.

I'm not sure where Marquez is from matters as much as the fact he rides for Repsol and HRC.

Interesting reply from Edwards to Spies, re the Rookie rule.......

Colin Edwards ‏@texastornado5

@BenSpies11 Complete joke!!!! No wonder Casey has lost his passion when u see all cards stacked against ya....ridiculous!!

As for being Spanish having nothing to do with it.......Ezpaleta claimed that one of the reasons for CRT was the escalating costs. A point he used to highlight the situation was that Bradl (remember him ? world champ...beat Marquez to the title 'cause Marquez had a penchant for getting to know various bits of tarmac as closely as he possibly could) nearly not getting into motoGP because he only had 5 million bucks to bring with him.

Now, if Bradl was Spanish.........

Without knowing the exact funding and distribution of earnings in MotoGP, I shall non-the-less go out on a limb and say that DORNA seems to be doing it's best to emulate the Spanish/European economic model of prosperity.

The more I try to have faith in DORNA knowing what they are doing, and the more I berate myself for mouthing off without knowing the full story, I still find my gut instinct proven correct, and that they (MSMA and DORNA)are a bunch of numpties.

I'm not apposed to making an exeption to the rookie rule if all the teams agree. The Honda sattelite teams want to hang on to their riders and team, so no place for MM there. The rule was set up to make sure satelite teams would have a chance to snap up young talented riders, but if they don't want this one because he'll only be there for a year and will bring his own team so be it.

But maybe HRC is simply calling the shots here behind the scenes.
If Gresini and LCR would simply say " no thanks, you figure out what to do with MM we'll stick with our own riders", Honda would have a problem. But that problem could simply be solved by HRC giving Gresini"s or LCR's bike to a separate team for MM with full factory support. So the two satelite teams are more or less obliged to say they agree with Honda changing the rule, or they risk losing their bike or parts updates in the future.

I don't hear any CR(T) teams saying/beeing asked if they agree with changing the rookie rule. All of a sudden they are not part of Motogp anymore? Would there be a CR(T) team happy with Marquez? I would say so.
"I get it, you're favorite rider is better than mine. Just stop trying to convince me to join your fanclub ok?"

That would be funny if all the CRT teams said no so MM has to ride a CRT for a season.

Why funny? All it does is lose a satellite team it's sponsors for 2014. Marquez can still have a factory bike, it changes nothing for him.
