so. how does the circus travel?

Postby lennyzrx on Wed Aug 08, 2012 2:04 am

you know. I wonder how this works nowaday's?

do most riders fly to each circuit? renting a ride to get to they're motorhomes/track? Do they stay at the track in motorhomes overnight or local motels?

Do the small teams travel together with the rider, driving, stay at the track together? I only remember old stuff. Back in the 80's they did. hittin local pub's?

I suspect most have nice motel rooms for riders and team? do any of the poorer teams camp at the track an pitch a few brews back in the evening?

Krop or a few hardcore GP fan's might know?

In MotoGP most riders fly. Some share the driving of their motorhomes, but it's unusual. The poor Moto2 and Moto3 teams are a little different, though.

Riders with motorhomes at the track stay in their motorhomes all weekend. Others stay in hotels. Nobody camps at the track any more. Rooms are too cheap nowadays.

And budgets are up a little from the days of the rider and one mechanic living in a van and sharing wrenching duties!
