Old family racing pics.

Postby Cam D on Sat Mar 03, 2012 2:09 pm

I came across some old photos of my Grand dad racing in Europe (he was Dutch) and a couple of pics of my Dad (93) racing + one random shot of a mate. The little 125 Suzuki GP bike is home made with a seven speed box. Still have that little baby! Anyway thought I'd share ... Oh! and if anyone wants to add their family pics to the thread feel free. I'd love to see them!

Great shots and such a proud family lineage. I have no family racing pics, as I was the family idiot who started racing at the age of 45 to the total bewilderment of the clan.

Excellent Cam, a real family treasure, you get more a of a 'feel' for the man rather than your average wedding/birthday/christmas/day-at-the-beach type photo.
I beleive it's not uncommon to research such family lineage and make a web site to keep the family history 'alive' and entertain us folks who enjoy the 'good' (while wholly un-safe) ole days!
Thanks for shring them with us.

Fantastic shots! Some of the older shots are of Assen, the original circuit, I'm pretty sure.

Great shots. My old man has a Tilbrook sidecar exactly the same as the one in the pic above.

Cam, thank you very much for sharing those. There's some great pics there. No doubt about a long lineage of racing in your family.

I'm not sure why it turned out that way but i have no pics of my brother and I racing or riding trials. But all of the family rides (except my mum) and all of the men have competed in one motorcyle sport or another.
My youngest son, Morgan, competing... he went from the centre of the spool to rear on the post. He canged direction on top of the post and jumped to front wheel on the pallet stack. Morg compete's locally and in as many world championship events as he can manage. Getting to Europe is expensive... but his grilfriend lives in Spain so he has incentive to get ovet there :)

An old pic of my eldest, Eljay, riding .. he doesn't compete any more as he's a dad now with two kids and a graphic design and fancy earphone company. He's still doing shows all round the country side with Morg though. They make Morg some dollars for travel, and raise a heap of money for the "Make a Wish Foundation". He must have ridden that wall over 100 times and he's never failed to get up! I used to catch for the first attempt and quite often had friends come up to view it from above. Amazing to be so close and watch the bike go from the ground to up the tiop in about 1.5 seconds.

The lads are both Graphic designers and on weekends they have a travelling show they put on to raise some money for Make a Wish Foundation and to help Morg compete OS. They've raised about 15 grand in the last year for make a wish so it's a cool thing they're doing. http://www.eljayshow.com/
