Friends right now I am in India and here I can just only see normal bikes a very few people have power bikes here.. In this topic I found images of ultimate bikes. Which I had never seen before. Some older ones are very unique. Its nice to know that some peoples are caring these.

Actually, the CBX motor was no (or very little) wider than the 750/4, because Honda relocated the alternator and clutch (from memory) behind the crankcase instead of at the ends - it was just that it was wide all the way up. I used to ride one, and it didn't feel all that huge, motor-wise, though the tank was extremely wide and with the flat seat, a short-arse like me had nothing to grip on so I had to roll-off for every change, grab both bars and then roll-on again otherwise I'd get spat backwards.

Was like riding a turbine - unbelievably smooth, reeled in the bitumen as if connected to the horizon with a large and very strong rubber band. Handling was another matter, and the famous chrome Honda brake discs were just plain scary in the wet. Heavy as...

Kevin Cameron made sense out of the I6 for me. If all cylinders are at 90 degrees, the motor always has exactly the same mass moving up as it does down - the inertia should remain absolutely constant and the vibrations should be non-existent.

Now, when I say 'didn't feel all that huge', I have to admit that that was once you were on the saddle after having walked up to the wall of metal and thought: 'almighty f*ck' ...( Oh, and after checking, the motor is about 2" wider than a 750/4)

The thing was surprisingly civilised, for what was the fastest production motorcycle on sale at the time, and provided you rode it as if piloting a Destroyer rather than a Jet-Ski, reasonably adroit in twisties (though it wouldn't see which way my now-venerable '86 viffer went). Plus which, you knew that if you did go down (and I went close enough one time to damn near re-tan the insides of the pants) it would plough the path smooth for you...

We used to watch those monsters proddy race at Knockhill in (must be?) the very early eighties.
We would sit on the grass at the exit to a corner where all the bikes hooked second gear and ping out the clutch at big revs at exactly the same point and cut loose up the straight, chasing third. Such was the frame technology back then, the bikes would visibly waggle and fight most of the way up the straight before braking. The frames were nicknamed after a well known credit card - "Your flexible friend"

My dear Sir, Knockhill in the early to late eighties is where I spent many a happy Saturday and Sunday marshalling!
You must have travelled some distance in your later years to end up at the further (and dare I say, warmer!) end of our fair Isle!

I saw these fella's a month or so ago on my way to work and felt compelled to have a chat with them, they were about to embark on a 3000+ Km ride up Norway's magnificent west coast on two 50cc / 2.5HP Tempo mopeds, presumably from the 60's and an unknown, more modern moped of another make.

The fella on the top picture is my hero check out his helmet, goggles, gauntlets and the storm light hanging off this back of his bike, 1800+ miles on them bikes with that gear??
Modern day vikings or escaped mental patients I never could decide but I couldnt help but admire their spirit.
Sensing they were uncomfortable with the attention I gained their permission to share these pics with you and left.

@Albert; Good to hear a little more of your misspent youth. Our paths seem to have almost crossed more than once! I was based up there in the forces. One of our guys raced an RD400, sometimes on a sunny day we would just spectate, and watch the marshals running about trying to extinguish the spontaneously combusting peat fires which continually sprang up on the infield, with rubber mats on wooden poles, very funny. And the smoke wafting across the race track added a most interesting dimension to the races. I would love to think that may have been you! Here are a couple of random old pics to remind you of the times.

I know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I can list at least 10 other modern day bikes that I could argue look like they were designed by 4 different people,,, who didn't get along well with each other. :D

Ugh. I've never even seen one.

And that is arguably my favorite bike or at least a primary component of my favorite series of bikes.
