Thanks. I just had to make the choice of where i was at. And i went for the clean photo. And from looking at other settings around me on cameras, alot was doing the same. Was shooting at 400 and f5-f8. Depending on what i changed my ISO too.
Area i was shooting had no clean line of site to pan with. Standing with a guy behind me, and he was pinned to the fence, and a guy in front of me, and two or three over looking my shoulder. Backstrech of the track, fence along the whole back stretch till start of the turn. So you could not get the rider in focus till he was out of line of the fence. By that time you had to needed to have your focus in manual, or a really good auto to capture him going from 100+ to breaking hard into a turn with little room to pan. Other spots on the track was shooting thru an eye hole pretty much. You could not stand up straight, or crouch. It was in between, keeping your camera out of sight of the box shaped opening in the fence to get a clean shot. Not to mention this was in turns 7-8 and i was on the grass mound and was zoomed out at 300mm. But i still had fun, i still like what i got photo wise, and one thing i like is its clean, clear, and crisp. Just needs some color pop and sharpening in photo shop. I can always add motion blur if i want, but it also helps me to make some more painting looking photos and add graphics to it.
