I think that many commentators believe he is fragile because he is so small. I'm not sure it is an English-speaking fan thing but it is being fed to us by commentators.

I guess our Spanish commentators just feed us on how tough he is for riding in such conditions (I recall Sepang '06, for example). At least, they praise all the other riders doing the same (Rossi, RdP, JLo).

I'd say he is fragile in the sense of prone to injury, but tough for riding in pain.

He's considered a little fragile, because of the injuries he has suffered during his career. He's not had a lot of luck with injuries in the past.

OK, I think this is agreed everywhere, even here in Spain where spanish riders are considered flawless demigods (by the media, not the fans). I thought Rats was referring to Pedrosa not being tough in the sense of not able to ride in pain.

Pedrosa apparently breaks quite easily but he is tough as nails and rides fast with injuries so I guess we can say the flesh is weak but the will is strong. ;)

One of Lucy's poetic slur's always sticks in my mind (beit fact or otherwise..)...
Something along the lines of "Pedrosa's bone density is akin to that of a nightingale."

I was more getting at the perception of how tough he is post-injury. I don't think there is a strong belief that he is somehow a wimp but he doesn't have the reputation that Lorenzo or De Puniet have. Probably not fair but we don't really get a lot of insight into Pedrosa in the way we do Lorenzo or RdP.

I think that's because every year Dani gets hurt and has to heal. It does seem to me that he breaks more bones than other riders tend to but I've got no stats to actually back up my opinion. I feel it's one of the reasons that he's not been able to truly contend for a MotoGP championship.

You are right. I think I was kind of missing my own point. I was really getting at his ability to get back on the bike and that commentators seem to equate how easily he breaks with his willingness to ride hurt.

I never make RatsPoint predictions because anything I bet on breaks a leg, falls under a bus or is hit by a comet or something similar - but I reckon that if Stoner throws off his 'I'm going to Honda, why bother?' mindset, he could still be competitive this season.

Welcome to my world, I'm cruisin' high with top 5's the last 2 rounds but expect that I'll be back around 25th or so soon, as is normal for me this season. I'm not real confident in several of mine at this point.

It takes a litle while to get the outcomes entered. Mondays after a race are always a bit hectic as I have to update the prediction contest as well as input all of the race results into the database.

I'll have the outcomes posted very soon.

Well, chakraist spanked us again. This is turning into quite a run. Just a single bet on race winner put him at the top. bacalao, follows with pure prediction bets and MPA stands on the podium once again.

Great job gentlemen.

BTW, if you have forgotten or haven't checked it out, the playe stats page has some interesting stuff on it. FOr some players, the information you might need to improve your overall strategy may very well be there.

http://www.mototheory.com/motogp-prediction-contest/player-functions/your-stats

I know for me, when I saw that my Winning Bet Value is 3.9 (meaning my winning bets usually pay 3.9 to 1) and that my bet to win ratio is 0.9, I realized that I am taking odds that are too long.

Of course, I've also failed to actually change anything but, you get the idea
