Number 7 at home for Rossi?

Postby phil on Sun May 25, 2008 1:41 pm

Will Rossi win at home next week to give him a run of 7 victories at his home track.
And if he does will it be a pivotal moment in the season.

My opinions are after the last two races he's obviously come to terms with the b-stones and with a six year win streak at a track hay why not 7?
For those last 6 years Yamaha were never considered the best bike on the grid which they certainly are this season.
Furthermore, if he makes it victory number 3 on the trot, i think the old Rossi-demoralisation-factor will sneak in abit, now i'm not suggesting the whole fields going to turn Gibernau on us, but i think some of the grid may think oh-oh here we go again.
Not my boy Lorenzo for sure mind!! :D

what do you think?

( the poll finishes before qualifing..)

Now if former 500GP winner Tadayuki Okada won on the long-awaited pneumatic-valve RC212V that would get the moto world buzzing!!!

I dunno. I really think the best M1 is the one Lorenzo rides, and he's going to be very dangerous.

While the pneumatic valve RC212V will surely be very fast, i doubt very much Okada still has enough oooomph to go on and win a race. This said, Bayliss did it in 2006 (but he still had it..and still has it).

I couldnt agree more mate I've said previously within this forum i think Mich/Yam is stronger than Bstone/Yam.
Lorenzo is dangerous for sure, though not for me because as long as a Fiat Yamaha rider wins I'm happy.
And regarding Okada i just threw that in there: if he wins pass me a knife and fork and my hat!!

I would not bet against Rossi,Pedrosa,Lorenzo,Stoner Then again, maybe this will be one of those crash and burn starts that favors one of the dark horses.
If so then it will be: Vermullen,Melandri,Dovioso. :o

My sincere hope is for a Rossi win, and as things stand he has all the necessary tools to be able to do it.
The M1 of Valentino's is radically altered (chassis geometry) from that of Jorgé in order to use the "Ducati style" Bridgestone tyres but he's obviously got it to work for him and he's comfortable with it, to the point that he's looking like the Rossi of old!

Having said that I can't help but feel that Jorgé could quite easily spoil the party!
I believe I'm growing sceptical of cynicism!

Rossi's past form has to suggest that he'll do very well, but there are a lot of people looking to upset him at his home track, even more so this year than previously.

Lorenzo in particular will be aching to pwn Rossi at Mugello.

Can't freakin' wait. :D

Does anybody know how fast jorge is recovering from his injuries? He's probably still not at full strength... i doubt he could win

Odds are against him, unless the kids trip over each other at the start! rossi has been lucky this year and he will need more of it to win again. When Ducati sort out there mess and with Horhay on the mend and HRC's new engine due Mugello maybe his last chance to run with so little pressure as he has seen at the last few rounds....

The doctor will win this one too. Once he gets on a roll, he has always been very hard to topple. What the young 'uns have, he has, plus. I don't think luck plays much of a part in multiple GP victories. Managing assets well is more the principal agenda. It will, of course, be very exciting.

Hello all,

First post here, I've been reading Kropotkin's blog for a long time (many many thanks) and I'm very pleased to see a forum to discuss one of my favourite passtimes, that of being an armchair motorcycle racer.

I would be surprised if Rossie did not win this weekend, he is certainly looking to be in devastating form. I think Lorenzo is his only real challenger for this year's title; and when he is at full fitness it is going to be a very interesting battle at the front.

I'm looking forward to the rest of the season very much, and particuarly Donington PArk, which is the only race I think I'll be able to attend in person this year.

Cheers,
Matt

Thats right never lost in motogp.
in 2001 on the 500 he qualified on pole, got the race fastest lap but DNF'd. and in 2000 he qualified 3rd but finished 12th.
he also won on the 250's in 1999 and the 125's in 1997.
ok, i gotta go (get a life!!)

I really hope he wins, it would just be a crowning achievement to win 7 years in a row. I have my doubts though, as he's got serious competitors who would like nothing better than to break his streak to break his momentum. You know Pedrosa, Stoner, and especially Lorenzo desperately want to break that streak and not let Rossi get 3 wins in a row. All good news for us race faces. I am going to be on the edge of my seat watching them go into turn 1.

The Doctor will win his 91th victory.

The Doctor. When he's on a roll, he is devastating. He's really up for it, too.

Forza Vale!!
