Looking at the track map I can see why a lot of riders don't like the first part of this circuit, but love the 2nd part. Turns 3,4 and 5 don't look like much fun to me. The back part of the circuit is much more flowing and I would suspect be more enjoyable.

I think turns 1 through 4 are "new" (meaning they were an after thought from when they removed the old northern loop), but are meant to "resemble" the old corners, juts much smaller.

Forgive me if im mstaken
I love riding. But not in Libya.

yes they have.

Europe is getting overpopulated
the local gouvernement allowed houses to be build to close to the racetrack, and off course after a wile, they complaiend about too much noise

so they "replaced" thetrack so it's further away from the houses...
if it runs, you can race it !

Ducati are saying they have a new chassis (according to MCN) for VR and NH to use at Assen.

How many different chassis's have they raced with this year?

This is Lorenzo's best chance in a while to steal some of Stoner's thunder. But if suddenly fuel consumption isn't a problem, maybe even SuperSic might be a greater threat than usual. As for Rossi and the GP11.1, it could be any where from 1st - I doubt it - to 10th - very unlikely as well - IMO.

I'm guessing on a CS JLo MS podium, or JLo CS MS.
That's me in the picture.

It's my understanding they changed/reduced the track to improve the run-off areas. I'm not sure ruined is the best word to describe the track, after the changes, because it is so emotive, in this context. Besides, much of the track remains, as is. Nicky Hayden likes it. Apparently, he even likes the changes. We all like Nicky Hayden, so...
Perhaps, not-so-good-as-it-was, is a little more relative. :)

It is definitely not a bad track but the first section is fairly dreadful and nowhere near as dramatic as it used to be. The rest of the track remains as awesome as it used to be.

The reason they made the change was to put in a shopping center of some sort.

Just watching FP1 now and it is raining quite heavily, not many out on track. One thing I did notice from Rossi's onboard vision is that the Ducati sounds different. Not sure what it is but it seems more subdued or smooth. Just my observation.

Just noticed why it sounds different, looks like a new exhaust on the Duc, almost like a trumpet on the bottom exhaust.

FP1 - Rossi 2nd, behind Simoncelli and in front of Stoner. I know it's wet but that's got to be pretty encouraging for the team :P

Considering that this is the first time (allegedly) he has tried this bike, the signs are looking good.

Whilst I enjoyed seeing so many riders actually head out and brave the conditions, I was also just quietly praying for it to be a dry track right off the bat.

No doubt I was not alone in wanting to see how the GP11.1 pulls up on it's first dry track ride, hopefully the racing gods will be kinder in the weather department for FP2.

With Rossi splitting the Honda group at the top, and Crutchlow and Abraham continuing their good form.. there's lots yet to play out this weekend.

Now if only we could get some sunshine!

I've got high expectations for this one. Let's hope everybody manages to keep their bum on their bike.

An interesting stat I thought was worth sharing is that after six races Stoner has already equalled Honda's best result in the 800cc era for a season, with 4 wins (Dani's result last year).

Even if the times are capricious to hell and we have no idea of who is looking just to run fast and who is looking to set-up for the expected race weather - that HAS to be a major confidence boost for Rossi after Strugglestone... good to see. And Crutchlow - very good to see! Pity for Aoyama to have to start off learning the full-fat machine in those conditions - we know he's a bit in the Hayden mould, likes to quietly dial himself in.

[edit] - and Abraham! Nobody can say the lad isn't giving it his best shot, and that is increasingly not a bad shot at all. As a side note - that is probably the bike that's closest to the original '11 - it'd be fascinating to know what he's had in the way of upgrades since he's still running (I assume, no video here) the despised 'won't turn' fairing and winglets..

Excellent! I was getting pretty sick of all this rain lately, now we see how high .1 really puts Rossi.

Regarding the conditions I wouldn´t get my hope up too high. FP2 delayed due to track conditions.

Edit. Apparently a huge oil spillage around teh track. Anyone know what happened?

Yeah I'm not sure who it was as I've just tuned in, but he was dumping oil out the back for a considerable amount of time - and stayed on race line to boot.

There is considerable work going on by the looks of things, but I doubt they'll be out there on time as it stands right now.
