Was feeling a little nostalgic and was looking for pic of Aussie riders from the 70's. Found some interesting stuff and thought I'd share :)

Thanks for the links Cam, it brought back some good (and bad) memories for me.
Unfortunately Ron Toombes did sign on for one more season. I wish he hadn't. :( RIP Ron.

I was lucky enough to see Agostini on both occasions that he raced in Australia and on both occasions he was beated by a privateer aussie. Bryan Hindle in 73 at Oran Park and Kenny Blake at Laverton 76. Both were classic duels and Ago didn't like getting beaten one little bit. :)
My first love was my motorbike, we went through everything together. Wind, rain, fences..

Such a different world. Imagine the championship contender being beaten by a local privateer in 2011.

more interesting was all the old people in the pics turned up to have a say. I have been in touch with Johnny O from those threads (from ozvmx) and he has literaly to many pics to scan from Australia an the IOM.

At Laverton Ago was beaten by Kenny Blake who was on a far superior machine to Ago after Stu Avant led early before his RG500 seized. People often say Ago only won his titles because he had the best bikes but he beat all the biggest names riding his MV as well as World Championships AND Daytona on two-strokes for Yamaha. Getting the best bikes from the factory usually has something to do with being the best rider.
