Looks like it was a timing glitch. Spies' sub 2min removed from list:

It may well have been a matter of them turning off the clock since it was his final lap.

Why are these CRT bikes running +10 sec off pace and doing fewer than 10 laps?

Are they that far behind in development that they are spending that much time breaking down and rebuilding the bike in the pits??

Sums it up pretty well. Apparently the BQR machine had engine problems today and teh team was out searching for parts during the day...a tad embarrasing imo.

Could they only have 1 or 2 bikes for 3 riders since bottom 3 are listed FTR Kawasaki CRT?

2:09.36 would be the 107% qualifying cutoff based on Stoner's time.

Spies - “We haven't really tested any of the new parts that are coming, so we don't really know where the [ultimate] potential of the bike is. But the base potential seems good. We've got a lot of changes still to make, so it's really hard to say where the limit of the bike is.”

As a Texan Rossi fan that is both encouraging and terrifying. :!:

I hope Ben comes into his own this year, I really love watching Elbowz ride, I've watched Assen 2011 atleast 5 times this offseason.

Yes, and I still think he can do 1:58s around Sepang, maybe next test. The times so far today show how any analysis of the first day's times was largely meaningless, especially with Stoner absent.

Surely, this is qualifying trim. Knocking 1 second off of yesterday's times, in just a few laps? Most riders are significantly under yesterday's times. Unless the conditions are perfect, or they are testing a new tire, I think it's safe to say that today's times will be a reflection of what the bikes could actually do with bigger fuel capacity.

I think Honda, at least, didn't move to the 'new' 2012 tyre until this morning - using the 'Old' new tyre yesterday to set their baseline.

The first two day's times were just plain slow because everyone was testing lots of different things. Spies said yesterday he hadn't explored the limits of his bike.

Rossi's times so far look good if we take Stoner out of the equation.
