You stated that you tried to give all posts a fair read with an open mind.

Later, it appears to me, you wrote that if someone's post contains "I'm a 'Rider X' fan too, but", then you immediately dismiss that post and read no further.

Both riders were: the lead rider for their (factory) team; Italian; had a last name containing the letters rossi (in that order). Both had been riding motoGp bikes from back in the 500's days. Both rode for Ducati in the years under discussion..

In 2011, it was generally exclaimed that the multi WC-winning rider of the bike who came 7th in the WC obviously had not lost his skills overnight, and the bike was complete crap.

In 2007 and beyond, it was generally exclaimed that the bike of the multi WC-winning rider who came 7th was the fastest and bestest thing on two wheels, and the rider was complete crap. (Indeed, said rider was fired and replaced for the next year with another accomplished, WC-winning rider, who managed to drag it to 17th in the WC standings for that year).

Compare and contrast the reasons for the change in perception of the bike concerned over five years.

Sorry, you're right I did word that very poorly... what I meant was that I don't like it when people use that "they are also a fan" as justification to be able to slam a rider. I didn't mean that I literally stop reading... just worded really poorly.

If you feel that the rider you support is 100% infallible and that he never does anything incorrect or wrong, that's fine, that's your view, however I will be taking what you say with a grain of salt in that case.

Well I certainly don't agree that any fan should think their rider is 100% perfect.

It's more when people make a very negative/sometimes unecessary comment about a rider, but precede it with "I am a fan of this rider, but..." and use that as justification to be allowed to make said comment.

I wasn't suggesting it was common place here, I was just having a groan in general.

No one is 100% objective and no one is without bias when comparing things like this. Its human.
