2009 World Supersport Donington Race Result - Dominant Winner And A Surprise Podium
Results of the World Supersport race at Donington:
Cal Crutchlow took a dominant win at Donington, despite riding with a cracked ankle bone. Crutchlow, Joan Lascorz took an early start, but Eugene Laverty slid out at the Melbourne Loop on lap 3, but rejoined to fight back through the field. Lascorz followed Crutchlow early, but eventually, the Yamaha rider's pace was too much for the Spaniard. Garry McCoy made a more than welcome return to the podium, taking 3rd after passing Kenan Sofuoglu halfway through the race.
After rejoining, Eugene Laverty rode a fantastic race through the field to finish 5th and limit his points deficit. Dutchman Barry Veneman, who quit the new defunct Hoegee Suzuki team just two races ago, finished in 6th in just his second time out on the George White Ten Kate Honda, more than justifying the faith of the Ten Kate team who provided Andrew Pitt's 2008 championship winning bike to the Dutchman.
