2012 Le Mans Moto2 Qualifying Practice Result: Unstable Weather Causes Early Dash For Pole

Results and summary of qualifying for Sunday's Moto2 qualifying practice at Le Mans:

Marc Marquez has qualified at the front of the grid for the third consecutive time this season, and will start from pole for tomorrow's French Grand Prix. Marquez set the fastest time very early in a session that would be dominated by the weather, the entire Moto2 field rushing out early to post a fast lap before the rain, which was threatening started in earnest. At the end of the first 10 minutes, it was Marquez who came out on top, with Pol Espargaro in 2nd and Scott Redding in 3rd. 

The rain which had threatened never really took hold seriously, allowing occasional periods when riders could push hard, and Thomas Luthi cleverly took advantage of one of those gaps to close in on Marquez and take 2nd, demoting Espargaro into 3rd, and Scott Redding onto the second row. Marquez also attempted to improve his time, but lost the front at Garage Vert and crashed, though he walked away unhurt. Redding also crashed very late in the session, but like Marquez, was unhurt.
