2012 Sachsenring Moto3 Qualifying Practice Result: Pole Secured With Flying Last Lap In A Downpour
Results and summary of qualifying for the Moto3 class at the Sachsenring:
Sandro Cortese has secured his fourth pole of the season and his second on the bounce, posting a withering lap in the final moments to take the front spot on the grid, snatching it from teammate Danny Kent. Cortese's lap was doubly impressive because of the torrential conditions it was posted in, the rain having fallen heavily since the end of Moto2 practice this morning. The German was delighted, as were the fans who braved the atrocious conditions to watch Cortese take pole for his home Grand Prix.
Adrian Martin will line up alongside the two Red Bull KTMs on the front row for tomorrow's Moto3 race, while Jack Miller heads up row two, the Australian having been strong throughout qualifying, despite running off track a couple of times as he pushed hard. Jakub Kornfeil grabbed 5th, another good result in a strong weekend, while RW Racing's Brad Binder with start from 6th on the grid, the best ever qualifying position for the South African Rookie.
The weather played havoc for the championship favorites: Maverick Vinales will start from the 8th row of the grid, having qualified in 24th, while Italian revelation Romano Fenati failed to post a time inside the 107% qualifying cutoff time, only making the grid on the back of the times he set during free practice.

Very impressive .........
.... lap from Sandro. Where that came from I have no idea!
I was shocked to see Fenati so far off the pace. He won at Jerez in wet / damp conditions yet today was 8 seconds off the pace. Strange.
Should be good fun watching Maverick cutting the grid tomorrow.
Go Bradical!
A great qualifying result from Brad Binder. Looking forward to watching him in the race.
