2012 Indianapolis MotoGP FP2 Result: Pedrosa And Spies Control The Session
Dani Pedrosa has taken a commanding lead at Indianapolis, topping the second session of free practice for the MotoGP class in the afternoon, and smashing the race lap record along the way. Pedrosa led by over a second for much of the session, with Ben Spies the only rider to get within half a second at the end of FP2. Factory Yamaha teammate and current championship leader Jorge Lorenzo was 3rd fastest, just ahead of Tech 3's Andrea Dovizioso, though both men were over seven tenths slower than Pedrosa.
Casey Stoner was the 5th fastest man of the afternoon, after leading during the morning. But while the better track conditions allowed Stoner to improve by well over a second, everyone else took two seconds or more off their best times, Stoner trailing his teammate by nearly nine tenths. The Australian was the last man inside a second, though: Cal Crutchlow put the second Tech 3 Yamaha into 6th, ahead of the satellite Hondas of Alvaro Bautista and Stefan Bradl, while Nicky Hayden suffered the same fate as Casey Stoner, not improving his time as much as the rest and finishing 9th, just ahead of teammate Valentino Rossi.
Toni Elias is now riding for Hector Barbera, after Barbera was diagnosed with three fractured dorsal vertebra. Elias ended the session in 17th, well down among the CRT bikes.

Spies
Is creeping up....hopefully all bad luck has been exhausted!
Poor Hector
He was racing so well for the first half of the season, should have stayed home for this one until he was ready. now he will likely be out for much much longer.
Colin vs Pol
I bet Colin is very unhappy that his bike couldn't lap quicker than the fastest Moto2 bike in FP2. I guess Pol and Marques are both great riders, but how on earth can these guys be as quick as the CRT bikes when they effectively could enter a big bore Moto2 bike as a CRT bike? How much fun would it be for Dunlop to get a lap time for the CRTs on their Moto2 tyres....
I guess the track is getting faster session by session, but it will certainly be interesting to see how the times in QP compare.
go yates
go yates. nice progress in 2nd session. Bad move by rapp team not using their inferior backup motor.
