2012 Misano Moto2 Qualifying Practice Results: Tight Three-Way Battle For Pole

Results and summary of qualifying for the Moto2 class at Misano:

Marc Marquez has secured his seventh pole of the season, qualifying in top spot for tomorrow's race at Misano. The Catalunya Caixa rider did not get the position easily, though, having to fight off challenges from Scott Redding and Pol Espargaro all the way to the end. Espargaro looked like taking pole from Marquez on his last lap, but crashed in the attempt, leaving the HP Tuenti rider to settle for 2nd, while Marc VDS Racing's Scott Redding ended up in 3rd. The battle was close throughout, however: at the end, less than a tenth of a second separated Marquez' pole time from Redding in 3rd.

Italtrans' Takaaki Nakagami took 4th, short of a front row start by just three hundredths of a second, while Andrea Iannone will start from 5th, sporting a special livery for his home round. Thomas Luthi rounds out the second row, the Swiss rider starting from 6th on the grid.
